After studying film direction at the Escuela de Cine de Barcelona, Alex takes a turn towards still images and graduates at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya.
In 2012 he moves to London and from there he starts to travel. In 2016 he returns to Barcelona, and feeling the need to gain depth in his photographic projects, he takes courses in Author Documentary Photography and Photobook Storytelling and Editing at El Observatorio.
From then on he participates in several group exhibitions (240m2, Vida Líquida, Ventanas Emergentes #1), co-founds the collective «Hadar206» with whom he publishes some fanzines and participates in Art Photo Bcn and Fotolimo.
In 2020 he wins the New Talent Fnac Photography Award, and exhibits his work in different art galleries and festivals (FotoLimo, Festival Ex-Abrupto, Festival FFoco, PHMuseum Days, Llotja del Cànem, FABA, Emotiva ’22).
In 2022 he co-founded the Bleach collective with Raúl Hidalgo, with which they will address, in the form of publications, issues related to identity and dissidence in the LGBTIQ+ environment.
Alex’s photography enters and explores places out of the ordinary, the limits, as well as the intimate. He is interested in the stories that come from wounded places, the pass of time and what is healing. He creates universes through a language that is built from that point where techniques, poetics and identities meet, mix and separate. In his latest projects, he has matured a discourse in which stories are told from the intimacy of the lived experience, towards new perspectives.
He currently combines assignments, teaching and personal projects, and is represented in Barcelona by Inéditad Gallery.
